Approximately 1 in every 100 people have autism. If you have 1,000 friends in your Facebook account, then you probably already know 10 people with autism - even if they don't know it themselves.
As prevalent as the condition is, the notoriety of autism continues. Ignorance becomes fear, which in turn, could lead to some very bad things. Unfamiliarity about autism often leads to discrimination and cruelty toward people on the spectrum.
Fortunately, there are several TV shows that now focus on the subject...
